I want to try a little prediction for the German election campaign in 2009. But before that I want to show you this great YouTube video for the American one. So the German election next year. As there is the habit of recycling everything that has been done in America more or less successfully I’m afraid of a very poor copy of Obama’s internet campaign. Wait a year, guys, and please,...
Last weekend I had some free time to spend surfing on last.fm listening to one or two artist radio stations, which in general streams music other people liked who listened to this specific artist. For example listening to the Arctic Monkeys radio station would bring up e.g. Mando Diao and matchable. This much for your basic understanding. What I discovered were some great other artists I...
This is a photograph of a project of mine. The model is Johannes, a fellow student and friend of mine. The idea was to create a mood of fidgety waiting for someone special to arrive. Basically I wanted to test some lighting in front of the Aachen main station at night. Focussing was a problem, I switched to manual but couldn’t get it fit perfectly. Today I ordered a new manual focus screen,...
Two days ago I finally made my very first flash animation/project ever. And I am very pleased with it. Here it is: Basically it is a countdown to the day of JMMV “Jugendpresseball” (Youth Press Ball) with a link to the accordingly website on it. But anyhow setting that link took me way longer than programming the countdown. I almost freaked out as it didn’t work properly after...
Because my current one is expiring. Today. For that purpose I made my own portrait photograph, with the help of Joe, who actually took the picture of me. Thanks, again.
I was really eager for Pushing Daisies to start in German Television, because I think it is an extremely good show. I just love it for it’s gently softly lovely storytelling. In Germany however this show is not the same. “Yeah, of cause, because it’s dubbed, all shows are best in their original version”, you might say. Right you are, but this is something different here....
It’s over. I hoped you enjoyed some of my pictures I chose the last 7 weeks. (Incredible how fast the time goes by, isn’t it?). Please leave me a comment, if you liked the idea or even if not, just tell me what you think about such a project. Should I start another one or not? What topic would you like me to use? I’ll be an attentive listener. What sucks most is that I have to...

Cleaning up and widening my musical horizon. (I am desperate to find a song played before the “fotos” concert in Düsseldorf last week.)

Some weeks ago I ordered free business cards (part of a advertising strategy by HKS [a color system used in some printing companies]). Today they arrived. Didn’t expect them to.

This is unique. I have been to something like “start of term party” here in Aachen and the first thing that happened was that I ran into someone I knew from back home (actually he more like ran into me). Anyways. Is this weird? I went to put down my clothes and didn’t see him again, so “Hello Hannes and Welcome to Aachen” this way. Text me if you are up to something....

Finally, here they are…
I just booked a flight home and back for less than 100 EUR, which is nearly as much as I would have had to pay for travelling by rail. But I am saving at least 5 hours time, which is great.
Sleep more often less than 5 hours. It boosts your creativity to an unknown level.
Absolutely hilarious: http://www.maxkerning.com/ (via ilovetypography.com)

“Ladies and Gentleman we are now arriving Stralsund main station. Thank you for travelling with Deutsche Bahn.” Yes. Thank You. Thank You Deutsche Bahn. Thank You for taking half a day to get where I should have gotten in 8 hours and 30 minutes. Thank you for being late 210 minutes. And all I got is this loosy <s>T-Shirt</s> “Claim for compensation for delay”...

I hate it. Because I have too much time to go and too little time to do something useful. That is the reason for me to always pack my things last minute. I am going to Stralsund on a internal seminar of jmmv from today to sunday.

I had a test shooting yesterday evening near the main railroad station with my colleague Joe. He was supposed to be the model, but beforehand he told some strangers, who were taking pictures as well, that he will be also in front of the camera that evening, so he invited them over (without my knowledge).
In this way I took some pictures of their model as well as them both together, what turned...
I made it to my second “Stammtisch” and liked it way better, we just talked more the same language. It must look like I were into collecting every calling card I could get, but well, that seems to be the way to go to socialize and to finally organize more shootings with e.g. some professional make-up. Indeed I found somebody, who would lend me his flash unit (on Monday) and somebody,...

Someone put this lebkuchen heart in this bread shelf in a local grocery store. Kinda cute. It says: “I miss you”. Guess, someone misses it, too. Well, or maybe not. That would make it an all new story.
When I was on my way back home I saw this funny car with its on-built camera driving along and taking pictures for Google’s streetview. I quickly took some pictures and even a little video. Who is spying on whom?
I am not quite sure yet whether to go there again. There were about 20 ppl and they were nice, indeed, but not really my age. As well I understood that they were a bit old-fashioned about things that I have been thought by several vids or sites I read and also what experience taught me. Whatever, Wednesday I was invited to another “Stammtisch” (group of regulars) , at the...

I kind of have a pleasant anticipation concerning tomorrows start of third semester. Even though we start at 08:15 AM…
iTunes’ shuffle play lead me to an album I didn’t recall ever listening to. Wired. It’s great nevertheless: http://www.jenana.de/

I just had the best idea ever like … this… century? I can’t tell you right now, but it involves my yet to design online portfolio. And it might be a little awkward as well, don’t really know whether I can really do this…
It is 00:09 AM and I didn’t get any mail the last day. What’s going on? (I usually get at least 10 mails every day)

I just had the idea spinning around in my head and I actually don’t really know where that came from… but anyway: I was curious about what Aachen got to offer on some hot weblog action. For the first time, when I turned on google I was kinda shocked. The most encouraging URL belongs to the worst sites I found. Awful design, not up-to-date. The last entry is actually a month old (and...

Alright, last exam today, cross your fingers for me. It’s thermodynamics, if we pass this we would be freaking genius’. Just started learning (which means real effective learning not just hanging out and taking videos) about a week ago while other we talked to have been learning for 8 weeks or so. Well, they laughed at us when we told them when we started… so the plan is to laugh...
